If you’re as big a sucker for free films as I, mosey on down to Music Box Theatre (3733 N. Southport) on Monday, September 26. “Hermano,” the newest release from Music Box Films, will screen at 7:30 p.m. — and all you have to do is RSVP.
According to Music Box’s website, “Hermano” chronicles the intense friendship between athletes Julio and Daniel. Raised as brothers, the two have been inseparable since Daniel was found in a trash heap as an infant. When the friends are given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go pro, a tragic act of violence occurs that could change everything forever.
“Hermano” is Venezuela’s submission for the 2011 Academy Awards, and has won film festival honors in Los Angeles and Moscow. Running time is 97 minutes and the movie is in Spanish with English subtitles.
Seating for Monday’s screening is first-come, first-serve and audiences will be asked to fill out a brief survey afterwards.
